What makes the AIR-X unique in comparison to other turbines is the use of state-of-the-art technology like Iron Boron Neodymium magnets, carbon reinforced engineering thermoplastics, high-quality aluminum castings, stainless steel hardware and integrated, microprocessor based control electronics. The turbine comes standard with a built-in voltage regulator with quiet computer controlled stall of the blades in high winds.

The Air Land versions are for use in applications where salt corrosion is not expected to be a concern. The Air-X and Air Breeze Marine are designed for offshore and or land-based coastal applications - anyplace near salt air.

How does the wind generator work?

When the wind blows, the rotor blade stops a percentage of the wind. That percentage is what is converted into energy. According to physics, the maximum amount of wind energy that can be converted is 59.3%. This is known as the Betz Limit.

Black Air or White Marine

Nose cone for Southwest Windpower Air-X, Air 403, and Air Breeze. There are four types available - the Air-X and Air Breeze are not interchangable. The old 403 uses the Air-X nose.

The Nose cones for the Land and the Marine versions are identical except for color - Land is Black (or dark gray), Marine is White.

Why are my blades black?
In an effort to put the best and most durable product forward, we have changed the blade color to black. Darker colors are proven to provide the best protection against UV rays. This enhancement will contribute to long-term performance and durability of the blades.

Can I order another color of blades?
Southwest Windpower is phasing out the grey and white blades.

Can I paint my blades?
Air Breeze blades are made through an injection molded process that results in a very durable and consistent blade. The smooth finish and composite fiberglass is not paintable.

How are these different from Air X blades?
The Air Breeze blades have been designed with a wider shape that contributes to a much quieter sound. Additionally, Air X and Air Breeze blades are not interchangeable. The Air Breeze blades have a different hub attachment than Air X.
